This is Scary and the American People Need to Pay Attention
In a powerful and sobering interview, Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin laid out what he describes as an alarming pattern of corruption and manipulation stretching back nearly a decade—allegations he says the American people can no longer afford to ignore.
Referencing newly declassified documents, Sen. Mullin strongly asserted that there was never a credible assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. “If you read these declassified documents—and I have—it is very clear: they did not make the assessment that there was any Russian interference,” he said. Instead, Mullin pointed the finger at the now-infamous Steele dossier, a piece of political opposition research funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign, which he said was “completely debunked” before it was ever used as the foundation for multiple FISA warrants against individuals associated with the Trump campaign.
Mullin highlighted the suspicious timing of key meetings in the waning days of the Obama administration—including one attended by then-President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, FBI Director James Comey, and National Security Advisor Susan Rice. The now-notorious “CYA memo” penned by Rice minutes before President Trump’s inauguration has long been a point of contention for those skeptical of the motives behind the Russia investigation.
“Obama said ‘do everything by the book,’” Mullin noted. “But everything surrounding that meeting wasn’t by the book. They all lied.” He went on to credit independent investigative journalists and commentators like John Solomon, Greg Jarrett, and Sara Carter for breaking stories that much of the mainstream media ignored or downplayed at the time.
The senator continued, laying out what he described as a coordinated effort by deep state actors within the intelligence community to sabotage Donald Trump’s presidency—first with false Russia allegations in 2016, then with the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020, and now through what he considers politically motivated indictments ahead of the 2024 election.
“This is the same group of people that tried to lecture President Trump on a peaceful transfer of power,” Mullin said, “while they were actively working behind the scenes to discredit the American people’s choice.” According to Mullin, Obama-era officials instructed the intelligence community how to frame Russian involvement, rather than whether there was any real interference at all.
Fast-forward to 2020: the FBI had authenticated Hunter Biden’s laptop in March, well before the election. Yet, instead of publicly acknowledging the laptop’s legitimacy, the agency reportedly met weekly with Big Tech companies, cautioning them about potential “Russian disinformation” campaigns—effectively priming them to censor what would become the explosive New York Post story. Social media giants like Facebook and Twitter, then led by Mark Zuckerberg and Jack Dorsey, complied, resulting in suppression of the story in the final days before the election.
“We now know they knew the laptop was real,” Mullin emphasized. “They just wouldn’t tell the truth. That’s more cinder blocks on the scale of an election.”
Mullin believes the pattern is unmistakable: from 2016 to 2020 to 2024, the federal government and intelligence community have engaged in what he calls an ongoing effort to tip the scales of American democracy. “This isn’t conspiracy. This is factual,” he said.
Pointing to the differential treatment of Trump and Biden over possession of classified documents—complete with an FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago for Trump and kid-glove treatment for Biden—Mullin said it’s clear there are two standards of justice.
As Mullin put it, “This is corruption in the deep state as far as you can possibly throw a rock into the well. And it’s scary.”
Calling for full transparency and accountability, Mullin concluded, “Obama, Biden, Comey, Clapper, Brennan, Rice—all of them need to be questioned. Every one of them. And we need to get every document we can find.”
For Mullin, this is not about political revenge—it’s about protecting the integrity of America’s electoral system. “The American people need to pay attention. This isn’t about Trump. It’s about truth.”
